Gold purity, BIS hallmark and HUID
14K, 18K and 22K in parts per thousand, and how to check the BIS hallmark and HUID of your jewellery.
Gold purity is measured in karats or in parts per thousand (fineness): 14K = 585, 18K = 750, 22K = 916. The rest is other metals that give strength and colour (white, yellow or rose).
BIS hallmark
In India, gold jewellery must carry the BIS hallmark: the BIS logo, the purity grade (for example 18K750) and a six-character HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) code.
Check the HUID
Use the BIS CARE app to enter the HUID and see the purity and the hallmarking centre. The HUID of every piece we sell is on your invoice.
How we price gold
Our jewellery prices follow the daily IBJA gold rate, so the price you see reflects today's metal value plus making charges, stones and GST.
